Osasuna Calls 22 Players for Season Finale Against Getafe
Xátiva native to return to Osasuna for ninth season
Osasuna has re-signed midfielder Rubén García through June 30, 2027, the club announced. Although the previous contract included an automatic renewal clause based on performance, both parties reached an early agreement to extend the deal, keeping the Valencian midfielder with the club for an additional season. García, who joined Osasuna in 2018 when the club was in Spain's second division, is entering his ninth season and currently serves as one of the team's captains. His buyout clause remains at 8 million euros. García and sporting director Braulio Vázquez are scheduled to address the media Thursday at 12:30 p.m. local time.
Rubén García Santos (born on July 14, 1993, in Xàtiva, Valencia) has established himself as one of Osasuna’s most influential players. Now in his eighth season with Los Rojillos, he helped the club earn promotion to La Liga and has played a key role in keeping the team in the top flight for six straight seasons. He was also part of the squad that clinched a spot in the UEFA Conference League playoff and finished as Copa del Rey runner-up. García has appeared in 281 official matches, the most among current players and 21st all-time in club history.
Over his Osasuna career, the Xàtiva native has contributed to 71 goals—scoring 33 and assisting 39. His technical ability, vision and work rate have made him a key figure for the club in the 21st century. García’s commitment to Osasuna and to the region of Navarre has earned respect from teammates and admiration from fans. With this contract extension, he is set for a ninth season and continues to make club history.
